Biogas plants in Delhi

New Delhi: MCD and National Dairy Development Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants in Delhi for the proper utilisation of cow dung.Union home minister Amit Shah said that the agreement signed today will serve as a model for making all major cities of the country clean. He added that this initiative will not only increase the income of livestock farmers but also improve cleanliness, generate CBG, and give a boost to organic farming.“All citizens of the country want the water of Yamuna to be clean, but this dream cannot be realised without stopping the discharge of sewage into the river. This agreement is an important step towards fulfilling the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to purify Yamuna.”He said that work has already started on around 80 treatment plants in the city for the purification of sewer water and industrial waste. “Arrangements are being made to ensure that not even a small amount of cow dung enters Yamuna in the future. This will not be possible without proper waste disposal from 1.2 lakh cattle,” he said.
