New Delhi: The Public Works Department (PWD) is planning a comprehensive beautification of the Shantivan–Rajghat crossroads, a key junction near Rajghat that connects central, north and east Delhi. The project aims to improve the visual appeal, safety and commuter experience at the intersection, which witnesses heavy daily traffic movement along with regular VIP and VVIP convoys due to its proximity to national memorial sites.According to official documents, around Rs 97 lakh has been earmarked for the proposed revamp. Officials said the project will focus on a mix of aesthetic enhancement and functional upgrades. The proposal includes landscaping work, improved road geometry, upgraded signage and pedestrian-friendly features aimed at streamlining movement and improving safety at the busy junction.A major highlight of the project is the enhancement of the lighting infrastructure to improve visibility and create a more organised streetscape. The scope of work includes the installation of customised architectural laser-cut bollards made of mild steel sheets and architectural column lights nearly four metres in height. Decorative combo poles made of galvanised mild steel tubes are also proposed as part of the redesign.
