Confirming Moritz Borman’s demise, Eric Kopeloff and Philip Schulz-Deyle shared a joint statement. “As both a producer and entrepreneur, Moritz helped shape the landscape of independent filmmaking, building creative and financial bridges between Europe and Hollywood,” they said, per Deadline, before adding, “He will be remembered not only for his achievements, but also for his generosity, optimism, integrity, and unwavering passion for cinema.”“Our thoughts are with Moritz’s family, his friends, and the many colleagues around the world whose lives he touched. His legacy will endure through the films he made, the filmmakers he inspired, and the lasting impact he had on our industry,” the longtime partners concluded their thoughts with heartfelt words. Moritz Borman’s last project as a producer will be an upcoming legal drama directed by John Lee Hancock, starring Jonathan Bailey, Lakeith Stanfield and Laura Dern.

About Moritz Borman

Born on April 16, 1955, Moritz Borman began his journey as a TV director and producer in Germany before packing his bags for Los Angeles. Attending the American Film Institute, he received his first Hollywood credit as a producer for the legendary filmmaker John Huston’s 1984 movie ‘Under the Volcano,’ starring Albert Finney and Jacqueline Bissett, per the aforementioned outlet. He continued to create an indelible mark on cinema with diverse films throughout his Hollywood career, with more than 35 credits to his name.
