NEW DELHI: Ryan Rickelton produced a night to remember, smashing the fastest century in Mumbai Indians history while also registering the franchise’s highest-ever individual score during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.The left-hander raced to his maiden IPL hundred in just 44 balls, breaking the long-standing record jointly held by Sanath Jayasuriya (2008) and Tilak Varma (2026), both of whom had reached the milestone in 45 deliveries.Record-breaking knock lights up WankhedeRickelton’s innings, however, did not stop at just the fastest hundred. The South African went on to remain unbeaten on a stunning 123 off 55 balls, now the highest individual score in Mumbai Indians’ history. In doing so, he surpassed Jayasuriya’s iconic 114 not out against Chennai Super Kings at the same venue in the inaugural 2008 season.Opening in place of the injured Quinton de Kock, Rickelton made full use of the opportunity. He and Will Jacks gave MI a flying start with a 93-run stand in just seven overs. Even after quick wickets, Rickelton anchored the innings with authority, finding support from Naman Dhir.The knock featured eight towering sixes and 10 fours, as he dominated bowlers with a mix of power and precision.

More milestones, massive totalRickelton also etched his name in another exclusive list, becoming only the second wicketkeeper-batter after De Kock to score a century for Mumbai Indians.His unbeaten effort powered MI to a formidable 243 for 5 in their 20 overs, one of their highest totals in IPL history.For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Praful Hinge was among the wicket-takers but endured an expensive outing, finishing with figures of 2 for 54 in his four overs.
