New Delhi: A man and his brother-in-law were killed, while two others sustained critical injuries, following a violent scuffle between two families in North Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla on Saturday. Police have arrested a woman and apprehended a minor in connection with the incident.According to police, a preliminary investigation suggests that the confrontation was triggered by one-sided affection of one of the victims towards a woman from the other family.Police received a PCR call around 2.50 pm regarding a clash in the area. When teams reached the spot, they found that the injured had already been shifted to hospital by local residents. Initial assessment at the scene indicated that a stabbing incident had taken place during the altercation.During inquiry, it emerged that three members from one family had sustained critical injuries, while one person from the opposing side was also injured in the clash. All four were referred to LNJP Hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, two of the injured persons from the first family—a man and his brother-in-law—succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.“Further investigation revealed that ongoing disputes linked to the alleged one-sided affection had been a recurring source of tension between the families, with both sides previously involved in a conflict against each other. Previous litigations were also pending between them on this issue,” a senior police officer said adding that the deceased was engaged in petty jobs.In this connection, police have registered two cross-cases. A murder case has been filed on the complaint of the first family, while an attempt to murder case, along with charges of common intention, has been registered on the statement of the woman, who was later arrested. A minor related to her has also been apprehended.Cops are scanning CCTV footage to ascertain the sequence of events in the case.
