New Delhi: Weeks after a scooty was stolen from outside a house in Karol Bagh, Delhi Police tracked the alleged thief to a drug de-addiction centre in Noida, where he was arrested.The accused, identified as 26-year-old Mohammad Adnan, was arrested by a team from DBG Road police station in connection with the vehicle theft reported in early June.According to police, the complainant had parked his scooty outside his residence on Joshi Road on the night of June 5. When he came out next morning, the vehicle was missing. An e-FIR was registered.Investigators scanned CCTV footage from the area and nearby routes, obtaining a clear image of the suspect. The footage showed a man arriving at the spot before riding away with the stolen scooty, DCP (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said.The cops then circulated the CCTV images among local informers, who identified the suspect as Adnan. During verification, officers found out that he had been admitted to a drug de-addiction centre in Noida. A police team reached the facility and arrested him.The accused has been taken on police custody remand and is being questioned to recover the stolen scooty and ascertain his involvement in other vehicle theft cases.Police claimed Adnan has previously been involved in six cases, including motor vehicle theft and preventive action cases registered at Sadar Bazar, Wazirabad and Keshav Puram police stations.
