New Delhi: A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death after he allegedly intervened to protect a woman from a group of boys who were harassing her at a park in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar Wednesday afternoon, police said. One juvenile has been apprehended.The deceased has been identified as Sunil (30), a resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district. He worked as a ironworker. He was at Khimman Singh Park with Devki (26), a resident of Jahangirpuri who works as a caretaker, when the incident took place. Both of them are friends.Police said a PCR call reporting a stabbing was received around 3.33pm, following which a team from Bharat Nagar police station reached the spot.A senior police officer said, “According to Devki’s statement, three to four unidentified youths approached the pair inside the park and began harassing her. When Sunil objected and tried to protect her, an argument broke out. During the altercation, one of the assailants pulled out a knife and attacked both Sunil and Devki before the group fled the spot.”Sunil sustained multiple stab injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Devki also suffered injuries in the attack and is critical.Police suspect that the accused are minors.While one juvenile has been apprehended, the others are absconding. Multiple teams have been formed to identify and apprehend the suspects. Investigators are scanning CCTV footage, questioning local residents and examining other leads to establish identities of those involved.A case is being registered under sections of BNS, including murder, police said, adding that they are verifying the sequence of events and the motive behind the attack. Sunil’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.Earlier this month, a 20-ye-ar-old man was killed and his body was later discovered at a DDA park early Saturday in northeast Delhi’s New Usmanpur area. Last year in Oct A 23-year-old salesman was stabbed to death by a group of youths during an armed robbery at Deer Park in east Delhi’s Dilshad Garden, his female colleague was also injured during the attack.
