Delhi gets respite from heat

New Delhi: The city got a much needed respite from extreme heat Wednesday.The maximum temperature at Safdarjung was 34.8 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches below normal and significantly lower than 40.5 degrees Celsius a day earlier.The day saw less humid weather. The feels-like temperature was 43.6 degrees Celsius at 5.30 pm against 53.5 degrees a day earlier.The Met has issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorm for Wednesday and Thursday. However, no rain happened till late Wednesday afternoon.“Conditions are favourable for a further advance of the southwest monsoon into parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and Punjab, and some parts of Rajasthan during next 2 days,” IMD said.The maximum is likely to be 32-34 degrees Celsius Thursday and Friday.
