Woman killed, husband injured in mobile phone dispute in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar; no arrests yet

New Delhi: A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death and her husband injured following an alleged dispute over a mobile phone in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar area on Tuesday night. No arrests have been made so far.The deceased has been identified as Rakhi. Her husband, Ashu, 30, is undergoing treatment. The couple lived in Azadpur with their 12-year-old son and worked as balloon sellers.Police said they received a PCR call around 9 pm reporting a stabbing near the railway track in Azadpur. A team from the local police station found Ashu injured a few metres away from the main scene. He was rushed to a hospital.During further search, police found Rakhi lying with multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to hospital in an ambulance but was declared dead on arrival.Preliminary investigation suggests the attack stemmed from a dispute involving a mobile phone. Police said the victims and the accused were known to each other.“Three youths allegedly took a mobile phone from the couple’s son while he was playing a game on it and slapped him. When the child started crying, hearing him, Ashu came out of the house, followed by Rakhi. When the couple confronted the youths, the argument escalated into a physical altercation,” said a senior police officer.During the scuffle, two of them allegedly attacked Ashu and Rakhi with knives before fleeing. Locals later intervened and informed the police.“Ashu’s statement will be recorded once his condition improves, following which a case will be registered,” the officer said.Crime team and FSL officials inspected the spot and collected evidence. Multiple police teams have been formed to trace the accused, and raids are being conducted at various locations.
