NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Himachal Pradesh on Monday as heavy to very heavy rain is expected in parts of the state.Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh, while several other states are likely to see heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning have also been forecast.
IMD alert for Monday
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh.Heavy rain is also likely in Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and the Northeast, among other areas.
Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow
The IMD has forecast heavy rain at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. The region may also see thunderstorms and lightning.
North India under heavy rain alert
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to remain wet, with heavy to very heavy rainfall possible in parts of both states.The Shimla Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday. The state is expected to remain wet through August 14.
Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and central India forecast
East Rajasthan is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain on Monday, with very heavy rainfall also possible in parts of the state during August 10-11.West Madhya Pradesh is also under a heavy to very heavy rain warning, while east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh may receive heavy rain.Uttar Pradesh is likely to see heavy rain at isolated places, while thunderstorms and lightning are possible over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha weather
Jharkhand is likely to receive heavy rain on Monday, while Bihar and Odisha may see thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.Rainfall activity is expected to remain widespread over Jharkhand and Odisha through the coming days.
Northeast under rain watch
Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive heavy rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning.Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to see rain and thunderstorms. Heavy rain is expected over parts of the region in the coming days.
West India forecast
Konkan and Goa are likely to continue receiving widespread rainfall. Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Saurashtra and Kutch may see scattered rain.Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely over parts of Gujarat, central Maharashtra and Marathwada.
South India rain forecast
Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep are likely to see widespread rainfall, with heavy rain possible in parts of coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep and south interior Karnataka.Parts of Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana may also receive rain, with thunderstorms and gusty winds likely over some areas.
Monsoon update
The southwest monsoon is expected to remain active across several parts of the country, with rainfall continuing over north, central, eastern, northeastern, western and southern regions.
IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days
The IMD expects rainfall activity to remain active across several parts of the country through August 13-15.Heavy rain is likely to continue over parts of the hills, central India, the Northeast, Jharkhand, Odisha and the west coast, while very heavy rainfall may persist in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and the Northeast.
