Weather tomorrow: IMD warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms across several states; monsoon set to advance further
Monsoon conditions are also expected to strengthen further over parts of northwest India as it advances during the coming days.

NEW DELHI: Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely to continue across several parts of the country on Tuesday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast an active southwest monsoon over large parts of north, west, central, east and northeast India.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in several states.

IMD alert for Tuesday

The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Gujarat, Konkan and Goa.Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch.Heavy rainfall has been forecast for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha and West Bengal.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow

Delhi is likely to witness rain, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places. Similar conditions are likely over Haryana and Punjab as monsoon activity remains active across northwest India.

North India forecast

Heavy rainfall is expected over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh.Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while thunderstorms are expected across parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh.

West India forecast

Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Gujarat, Konkan and Goa. Heavy to very heavy rain is also likely over central Maharashtra, Saurashtra and Kutch.

Central India forecast

Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while heavy rain is expected over Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also forecast in parts of Madhya Pradesh.

East and northeast India forecast

Heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, while Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also expected to receive heavy showers.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

South India forecast

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Karnataka and Kerala. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Monsoon update

The southwest monsoon continues to advance gradually across the country.According to the IMD, conditions remain favourable for its further advance into more parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab, and additional parts of Rajasthan over the next three days.

IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days

The IMD has forecast active monsoon conditions over much of the country during the next three to four days.Heavy rainfall is expected to continue across parts of north, west, central, east and northeast India, with very heavy to extremely heavy rain likely over Gujarat and Konkan and Goa.Monsoon conditions are also expected to strengthen further over parts of northwest India as it advances during the coming days.
