Weather tomorrow: IMD warns of extremely heavy rain across several states; monsoon intensifies in west, central India
The IMD has forecast active monsoon conditions to continue across large parts of the country through the next three to four days.

NEW DELHI: Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected across several parts of the country on Saturday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of intense monsoon activity over parts of western, central and eastern India.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely in many regions, while widespread rain is expected to continue across much of the country over the next few days.

IMD alert for Saturday

According to the IMD, extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, Odisha and west Madhya Pradesh.Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected over coastal Karnataka, east Madhya Pradesh, east Rajasthan and Gangetic West Bengal.Heavy rainfall is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, interior Karnataka, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Vidarbha.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected over Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow

Delhi and adjoining parts of Haryana are likely to witness rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in the region.

Mumbai weather tomorrow

Mumbai is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated places expected to witness extremely heavy showers as active monsoon conditions continue over the Konkan region.

Himachal and Uttarakhand weather

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. According to the IMD’s state centre, the southwest monsoon has now covered the entire state of Himachal Pradesh and is likely to remain active over the coming weeks.The Shimla Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places across the state from July 2 to 5.

West and central India forecast

The heaviest rainfall is expected over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, west Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, where extremely heavy rain has been forecast at isolated places.Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Saurashtra and Kutch.

East and northeast India forecast

Odisha is expected to receive another spell of intense rainfall, while heavy rain is also likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

South India forecast

Heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala, Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana.Thunderstorms are also expected across several parts of southern India.

Monsoon update

The southwest monsoon’s northern limit currently passes through parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.According to the IMD, conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to advance further into more parts of Gujarat, the remaining areas of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan over the next two to three days.

IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days

The IMD has forecast active monsoon conditions to continue across large parts of the country through the next three to four days.Widespread rainfall is expected over northwest, central, eastern, northeastern and peninsular India, with particularly heavy spells likely over parts of Gujarat, west and east Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and the west coast.
