New Delhi: Two 20-year-old labourers were reported to be missing after they entered the Bawana canal for a swim on Sunday afternoon, prompting a large-scale search by police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).Police said three friends went to the canal for a swim. After some time, only one returned to the bank and was unable to locate the other two. He alerted the police around 1.15 pm.The missing men have been identified as Prashant Pandey and Satyam Kumar. Both are 20 years old and residents of Janki Vihar in Prem Nagar-II, northwest Delhi.Local police launched the search which NDRF personnel and other emergency response teams joined later.Officials said the search focused on the canal and areas around it throughout Sunday, but the men could not be traced. The effort to locate them is still on.Last month, a 21-year-old man drowned in the same canal after being swept away by strong currents while bathing.
