Speeding bus collides with taxi & bikes, kills one biker in NE Delhi

New Delhi A bus, which was allegedly speeding, hit a taxi and three motorbikes, dragging some of the vehicles and a biker under it, in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri Wednesday.One of the motorcyclists was killed. The driver of the bus fled the scene.The bus was coming from the Uttar Pradesh side and travelling from the Bhopura border towards Khajuri via the Nand Nagri flyover. It lost control while descending the flyover. The vehicles that it hit were all waiting at a red light. After ramming into them, the bus kept moving forward.A senior police officer said information about the accident came to them around 9.30 pm at Nand Nagri. On reaching the spot near the Main Road of Nand Nagri bus depot, police found out that the bus had collided first with a taxi and then the bikes.All the injured were shifted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. One motorcyclist, Vinit (27), was declared brought dead. The other two, Rohit and Suraj, are under treatment.Another officer said two motorcycles got trapped under the bus. The motorcyclist who died was found beneath the bus, the official said.The accident led to a traffic jam that stretched nearly 3 km, disrupting movement from Nand Nagri to Harsh Vihar. Preliminary findings suggest the bus was speeding, police said. A video recorded after the incident showed the bus with a shattered front windshield, a motorcycle lodged in its tyres, and blood stains at the scene.While initial claims suggested that around 10 people may have been trapped, police said they had no confirmation of this number.
