NEW DELHI: A CCTV clip that has surfaced during the investigation into the deadly Govindpuri fire shows a masked woman entering the residential building shortly before the blaze broke out, prompting police to analyse her movements as they probe the cause of the tragedy that killed three members of a family. The footage, recorded in the early hours before the fire, shows a woman with her face partially covered entering the narrow lane leading to the building. She is seen walking past parked two-wheelers and approaching the entrance before moving inside the premises. No flames, smoke or any visible signs of a fire can be seen in the clip. However, after the woman remains inside for some time, a bright light becomes visible from within the building area. Moments later, she reappears and is seen leaving the premises. The fire broke out in the early hours of Friday, triggering panic among residents. Several occupants were rescued by neighbours and emergency responders as thick smoke engulfed the building.Police had earlier said preliminary findings pointed to a possible short circuit on the ground floor, where several two-wheelers parked inside the building were gutted in the blaze. The newly surfaced footage is now being examined by investigators to determine whether the woman’s presence has any relevance to the incident or was merely coincidental.
