New Delhi: A four-year-old boy died and his brother was injured after a fire broke out while they were sleeping at their residence in northeast Delhi’s Gokalpuri on Saturday. Police suspect that a short circuit in the air conditioner may have triggered the incident.Upon reaching the spot near Kardam Dharmshala, police found that two children, aged five and four years, were left alone in a room on the second floor by their parents, who had gone to work.Around 3.15 pm, the children’s grandmother noticed smoke coming from the room. She rushed to the spot and found both children injured inside the smoke-filled room, police said.They were rushed to GTB Hospital by family members, where one of the children was declared brought dead by doctors. The other child is currently undergoing treatment for injuries.A forensic team inspected the scene and collected samples and other evidence for further analysis.
