King Charles is reportedly hoping to meet Prince Harry this week as efforts to repair their strained relationship gather pace. According to a report by The Mirror, the King has asked senior aides to continue discussions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the hope of finding time for a family meeting during Harry’s visit to the UK.The report says Charles is particularly keen to spend time with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, whom he has rarely seen.A royal source told The Mirror, “While nothing has been ruled out, conversations remain ongoing.”Another source added, “The King would not pass up the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and if there is a way of making it possible, he will do it.”

Harry arrives in the UK without Meghan and the children

Prince Harry arrived in the UK earlier this week on his own after recently holidaying in Europe with Meghan Markle and their children.According to the report, one of the options being discussed is for Meghan, Archie and Lilibet to fly to the UK for a brief 24 hour visit so they can meet the King.Harry is also said to be trying to arrange additional private security for his family before making any travel plans.King Charles has met Archie only a handful of times, while he has seen Lilibet just once during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Father and son have reportedly been talking

Relations between Charles and Harry have remained tense since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States.However, The Mirror reports that the King and Harry have spoken privately several times in recent weeks. A source described the conversations as “hopeful,” with both sides said to be interested in making a meeting happen if schedules allow.

Harry’s UK visit comes after a difficult week

Harry’s latest trip to Britain has come amid a series of setbacks.The Duke reportedly wanted to stay at Buckingham Palace during his visit but his request was turned down. According to the report, palace officials said his response to an earlier accommodation offer came too late. It was also considered inappropriate for the King to host Harry while a court judgment involving the Duke was pending.Harry had also hoped to bring Meghan, Archie and Lilibet to the UK. Those plans reportedly changed after the family was not granted taxpayer funded security for the visit, leading Harry to travel alone.The report also says Harry’s team believed internal palace issues played a role in the accommodation decision, although Buckingham Palace has not commented on the claims.

Harry focuses on public engagements

Despite the personal challenges, Harry is set to carry out a series of public engagements during his UK visit.He is scheduled to visit Birmingham Children’s Hospital to mark the 20th anniversary of the first WellChild nurse before attending an event celebrating the countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games.Buckingham Palace has not officially commented on the reported reconciliation talks or the possibility of a meeting between King Charles and Prince Harry.
