New Delhi: A fire broke out at an electronic goods showroom in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar Wednesday morning. The fire engulfed the four-storey building and spread to the two upper storeys of an adjacent shoe showroom. No casualties were reported, though officials fear the blaze caused extensive property damage.According to Delhi Fire Service, a call about the fire at a commercial building near Najafgarh Road was received around 4.15 am. Thirteen fire tenders and more than 65 firefighters were rushed to the spot. The situation was brought under control by 6.55 am.The four-storey showroom of a prominent electronics and home appliances company was completely engulfed. The blaze is believed to have started in the basement and later spread upwards.Fire officials said that it was a mixed-category fire spread over 350 square yards. The blaze is believed to have caused huge losses due to damage to infrastructure and other property, including electronic goods, furniture and fixtures.The exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed, and police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
