New Delhi: A 34-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife and two children during a domestic dispute in southeast Delhi’s Mithapur, leading to the death of his two-year-old son.The mother of the boy works as a househelp while the accused father, Chandan Sharma, worked as a daily wage carpenter. The boy is also survived by a four-year-old sister.According to police, a PCR call was received around 1.30 pm on Friday at Jaitpur police station reporting domestic violence in Lakhpat Colony Part 2. A police team rushed to the spot, where the woman claimed that her husband had brutally beaten her and their two minors following an argument at home.During the probe, police found that Sharma was addicted to alcohol and narcotic substances, which led to frequent quarrels in the family.The injured two-year-old boy was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. The mother of the boy and his sister also sustained minor injuries in the incident, however, are medically fit, police said.“The boy was hurt in his stomach during the altercation which proved to be fatal,” a senior police officer said. The officer added that the accused father had previously also been involved in an incident of a heated quarrel with his father around a year back.
