Kalaburagi: A 21-year-old farmer from Hinchagera village in the taluk died by suicide after consuming pesticide in his field, police said. The deceased was identified as Ambarish, 21. According to police, he was driven to despair by mounting debt and continuous crop losses. Reports stated that Ambarish’s family owed around Rs 6 lakh to Canara Bank and nearly Rs 10 lakh in private loans. The family was under severe mental stress as lenders frequently visited their home to recover the dues. After consuming the pesticide, Ambarish was rushed to the Govt Public Hospital in Afzalpur for treatment. However, he succumbed despite medical efforts. A case has been registered at Afzalpur police station in this regard.
