Man jumps before moving train at Bengaluru Metro station, dies; yellow line services hit

BENGALURU: A man allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train at Bengaluru’s Huskur Road Metro station on Monday evening.Officials said that the incident disrupted services on the Yellow Line, news agency PTI reported.According to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL), the incident occurred at around 5.50pm.“The on-duty station controller and security personnel immediately initiated the prescribed safety procedures, and traction power was switched off as a precautionary measure,” BMRCL said in a statement.Following the incident, train services on the Yellow Line were temporarily restricted to the Electronic City–Bommasandra section.Police are yet to establish the identity of the deceased, and further investigation is underway.The Yellow Line connects RV Road (Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road) and Bommasandra.BMRCL advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly while restoration work was underway.“Efforts are underway to restore normal services at the earliest. The inconvenience caused is regretted,” it added.(With agency inputs)
