Delhi Uttam Nagar double murder case: Accused arrested after four months on run

NEW DELHI: More than four months after two men were allegedly stabbed to death in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, police have arrested the third and remaining accused from Beawar in Rajasthan, officials said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Akash alias Akki (24), had been absconding since the December 21, 2025 incident and was later declared a proclaimed offender by a Dwarka court. His arrest follows the earlier detention of his associates, Sumit and Nikhil. According to police, the incident took place in Kali Basti, where the victims, Nizamuddin and Mohammad Sameer, were allegedly attacked by the trio. Nizamuddin died on the spot, while Sameer later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. A case was registered at Uttam Nagar police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators said the murders were the result of a personal rivalry. A special staff team of Dwarka district, acting on a tip-off, traced Akash to Beawar using technical and human intelligence, and arrested him with the help of a local informer. During interrogation, Akash allegedly confessed to his role in the crime and told police that he fled Delhi after the incident. He had been staying in Beawar with a friend and frequently changing mobile numbers to avoid arrest. Police said Akash, a resident of Uttam Nagar who studied up to Class 5, was previously involved in a case under the Delhi Excise Act.
