NEW DELHI: Hundreds of protesters camping at Jantar Mantar amid heavy rain received an unexpected gesture of support on Tuesday when a Mumbai resident ordered and paid for food packets to be distributed among those gathered at the protest site.A video of a delivery partner arriving with the food has since gone viral on social media.In the clip, the delivery executive says the order was placed by Anuj Rawat from Mumbai with instructions to hand the food to anyone hungry at Jantar Mantar.“Someone named Anuj Rawat from Mumbai, Maharashtra, ordered the food and asked us to distribute it to anyone hungry at Jantar Mantar. The payment has already been made online,” the delivery partner says in the video.The clip drew praise online, with several users lauding the gesture and describing it as an example of solidarity amid the ongoing protests.The video surfaced a day after thousands of people participating in the Cockroach Janta Party’s march to Parliament were met with police action, including lathi charge and tear gas.The agitation continued on Tuesday, with students and supporters returning to Jantar Mantar and reiterating their demand for an apology from Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.(With PTI input)
