New Delhi: More than two weeks after a taxi driver was robbed of his Maruti Ertiga and mobile phone near the Bhopura Border in northeast Delhi, police have arrested three men in connection with the case.According to police, Parvez, a taxi driver from Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, was waiting for passengers near Lakdi Market Puliya in Welcome area around 7.30 pm on June 22 when allegedly three intoxicated men hired his cab for a ride to Loni Gol Chakkar. During the journey, the accused allegedly intimidated him by invoking the name of a known criminal.One of them then forcibly pushed him from the driver’s seat, took control of the vehicle and, on reaching the Bhopura Border, threw him out before fleeing with the car, police said, adding that his mobile phone, which was inside the vehicle, was also stolen.A case was registered at Welcome police station. The probe led to the identification and arrest of the three accused.Police identified the arrested men as Mehtab (29), with five previous criminal cases – including murder, attempt to murder and the Arms Act – Aman (22), with four previous cases, and Mohammad Faisal (23). Police said the robbed car and the victim’s mobile phone have been recovered.
