NEW DELHI: Competition for undergraduate admissions at Delhi University remains intense this year, with 1.90 lakh applicants vying for around 71,600 undergraduate seats across its colleges.According to the university’s latest admission update issued on Friday, 1,90,645 candidates have registered for undergraduate admissions, while 1,64,098 have completed Phase II of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) by filling their programme and college preferences.Candidates have until 11.59 pm on July 11 to lock their preferences, following which the university will release simulated ranks before opening a brief window for candidates to revise their choices ahead of the first allocation list on July 16.The simulated ranks, scheduled to be announced on July 12, are intended to give applicants an indicative idea of where they stand based on their programme-specific merit and preferences. After viewing their ranks, candidates will get one final opportunity to reorder or modify their programme-college preferences before they are frozen for the first round of seat allocation.The first CSAS allocation list will be announced on July 16, after which candidates allotted seats can either accept them or wait for subsequent rounds if they wish to seek an upgrade.Meanwhile, the university has released the third allocation list for two-year postgraduate programmes, making 1,765 fresh allocations, including 214 seats in performance-based programmes. As many as 5,848 candidates have frozen their allotted postgraduate seats so far.The university also said 8,823 students have registered for its newly introduced one-year postgraduate programmes, which are open only to graduates of DU’s four-year undergraduate programmes under UGCF 2022.
