NEW DELHI: A woman and her two children died after a fire broke out in a third-floor house in BK Dutt Colony in south Delhi’s Lodhi Road area on Tuesday morning, fire officials said.According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call about the blaze was received at 10.21am from a house located in B-Block, opposite Chawla Sweets, in B.K. Dutt Colony.Firefighters immediately rushed one water tender, one water bowser and one breathing apparatus tender to the spot to carry out rescue and firefighting operations.Upon reaching the building, firefighters found that the fire had engulfed a house on the third floor. As they battled the flames, the teams entered the premises and found three occupants — a woman and two children — inside the house.All three were found dead, senior fire officials said.As the operation continued, a senior official was rushed to the spot to supervise the firefighting efforts. The blaze was brought under control by around 11.10am, following which firefighters carried out cooling operations to ensure there was no possibility of the fire reigniting.Officials have not yet ascertained the cause of the fire. Police and fire department personnel are expected to examine the scene to determine what triggered the blaze and whether any electrical fault or other factor was responsible.The bodies are likely to be sent for post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.Further details regarding the victims, the circumstances leading to the fire and the exact cause of the blaze are awaited.
