Weather tomorrow: IMD forecasts heavy rain across north, east and northeast India
Heavy rainfall is likely to persist across parts of northwest, east and northeast India over the next three to four days.

NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rain across large parts of the country on Sunday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in parts of north, east and northeast India.Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and several northeastern states are among the regions under heavy rain alert.

IMD alert for Sunday

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Heavy rain is also expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab and Uttarakhand.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of east Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.Gusty winds are also expected over Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow

Delhi-NCR is likely to witness light to moderate rain, with the IMD warning of isolated heavy rainfall. The forecast also points to rain activity continuing across the region over the next few days.

North India forecast

Rain is expected to remain active across the Himalayan region, with Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand likely to receive heavy rainfall over the coming days.Heavy rain is also forecast over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and east Uttar Pradesh, while west Uttar Pradesh may continue to see scattered showers.

East India forecast

Bihar is under a heavy rain warning on Sunday, with isolated very heavy rainfall also likely in some areas. Gangetic West Bengal is expected to receive heavy rain, while sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim could see very heavy rainfall.Jharkhand is likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning, with rain activity increasing in the following days. Odisha is expected to receive scattered rainfall along with thunderstorms in some areas.

Northeast India forecast

The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Heavy rain is likely across most of the region, with isolated very heavy rainfall expected in some areas.

Central and west India forecast

Parts of east Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness thunderstorms with gusty winds, while heavy rain is expected later this week. Chhattisgarh is likely to see thunderstorms and rain activity continuing over the next few days.Konkan and Goa are expected to receive widespread rainfall, while central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to witness scattered showers.

South India forecast

Rain is likely over coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are expected in parts of Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.Strong surface winds are also likely over parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

IMD’s latest forecast

Heavy rainfall is likely to persist across parts of northwest, east and northeast India over the next three to four days.Rain activity is also expected to continue over the western coast and parts of central and southern India, while people in areas under heavy rain alerts have been advised to remain cautious due to the possibility of waterlogging, reduced visibility and localised flooding.
