New Delhi: A drinking water supplier was shot dead inside his shop in northeast Delhi’s Nehru Vihar Monday evening after three men on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire on him and fled.Police are probing whether the murder was linked to personal enmity or any previous dispute. While locals claimed that more than a dozen rounds were fired, police said the exact number of shots was yet to be confirmed.Rashid, who also ran a small potable water refilling plant, was critically injured and taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital by residents, but was declared dead on arrival, said police. A team from Dayalpur police station went to the spot after receiving the news around 6.10pm. Some locals claimed that Rashid was under threat and had survived an attack a few months ago.A forensic team collected evidence, including empty cartridges, and the body has been sent for postmortem. A murder case has been registered.
