NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old man was killed after a speeding SUV allegedly ran him over while he was standing by the roadside with a friend in Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area, police said on Sunday.The incident occurred on Saturday night in West Delhi. The deceased was identified as Uday Mahato, a resident of Khyala, according to news agency PTI.“A speeding SUV hit Mahato, while his friend narrowly escaped,” an eyewitness told police.According to police, the SUV driver fled the scene after the accident. Mahato’s friend informed his family and rushed him to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.The victim is survived by his wife and two children. Family members have demanded the immediate arrest of the absconding driver.Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Teams are working to identify and trace the vehicle involved in the accident.Officials are also examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning witnesses to establish the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
