Gaya: Gaya district administration has stepped up efforts to expedite three major flyover projects in the town.District magistrate Shashank Shubhankar on Tuesday asked officials to complete the valuation of structures falling along the proposed alignments within two days to speed up land acquisition and construction. The preliminary notification for acquiring land for all three projects has already been published.To accelerate the process, the district administration has constituted separate valuation teams for each project. The teams have been asked to inspect all structures along the proposed routes, assess their value and submit detailed reports within the stipulated timeframe.Shashank asked all departments concerned to work in coordination and send their reports to the district land acquisition office within two days so that compensation can be paid to landowners as per rules and obstructing structures removed without delay.The three flyovers are expected to improve traffic movement across Gaya. The proposed Bageshwari flyover is considered crucial for easing congestion on the approach road to Gaya railway station. It is expected to cut travel time for commuters from Patna, Jehanabad and Arwal and improve connectivity to the station.The Manpur flyover is expected to facilitate smoother movement of vehicles travelling between Rajgir, Nalanda and Bodh Gaya. The corridor witnesses heavy tourist traffic throughout the year, particularly buses carrying domestic and foreign visitors to the UNESCO world heritage site Mahabodhi Mahavihara in Bodh Gaya.The Ghughritand flyover is expected to benefit pilgrims visiting the Vishnupad Temple. The stretch witnesses massive traffic during the fortnight-long Pitripaksh mela, when lakhs of devotees arrive to perform “pinddaan”, “tarpan” and “shraddha” rituals for their ancestors.Shashank said completion of the three flyovers would improve Gaya’s traffic management, reduce congestion and provide safer and faster connectivity for residents, tourists and pilgrims.
