Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Sunday visited AIIMS-Patna to review healthcare services, infrastructure and expansion plans. Accompanied by health secretary Kumar Ravi, he inspected the burn centre, outpatient department (OPD), nuclear medicine department, inpatient department (IPD) and other key patient-care units.During the visit, Samrat interacted with doctors, healthcare workers, faculty members and administrative officials to assess departmental functioning, patient load, service delivery and operational requirements. He reviewed the facilities available to patients and discussed measures to further strengthen healthcare delivery at the institute.A major focus of the visit was the proposed expansion of AIIMS-Patna. The CM inspected the land earmarked for the project and reviewed the expansion road map aimed at meeting the growing healthcare needs of Bihar and neighbouring states.Samrat assured the institute that the Bihar govt would extend all necessary cooperation in making 24 acres of land available for the expansion. The project includes new clinical blocks, advanced treatment facilities and upgraded infrastructure for medical education and research. Officials said the expansion is expected to add nearly 200 hospital beds, significantly enhancing the institute’s capacity to treat patients.The CM also assured support for the construction of a four-lane road connecting AIIMS-Patna with Nathupur to improve access for patients, attendants and the general public.During his inspection of the burn centre, Samrat said the govt would fully support the establishment of a skin storage facility for burn victims to ensure timely and better treatment. He visited the burn ward, interacted with patients and sought feedback on the medical facilities being provided.Inspecting a pond on the AIIMS campus, he directed officials to renovate and develop it as a tourist attraction.Emphasising the need to strengthen tertiary healthcare services in Bihar, Samrat assured the institute of the state govt’s continued support. The visit concluded with a review meeting on ongoing projects, infrastructure requirements and future development plans.AIIMS-Patna executive director Prof (Brig) Dr Raju Agarwal received the CM along with the medical superintendent, deputy director (administration), senior administrative officers and faculty members. Institute officials briefed Samrat on the institute’s achievements, operational requirements, ongoing initiatives and expansion plans. Discussions also focused on improving patient services and strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the state.
