Sahil Luthra Extortion Plot Linked to Spain

New Delhi: The investigation into the Rs 10-crore extortion case targeting defence entrepreneur Sahil Luthra has revealed that the threats were allegedly orchestrated through a man identified as Manni, who was operating from Spain and using a messaging app to issue extortion demands in the name of gangster Goldy Brar and Khalistani elements.The accused have been identified as Gurpinder Singh (32), Shamsher Singh (35), both residents of Tarn Taran, and Jaswant Singh (59), a resident of Amritsar and a former Punjab Police assistant sub-inspector who was overseeing the complainant’s company’s operations in Punjab.Sahil Luthra is the managing director of a defence manufacturing company established in 2024.Special commissioner of police (crime) HGS Dhaliwal said, “Luthra had received multiple threatening calls and messages during Aug and Sept last year. On June 4, he received a voice note from an international number demanding Rs 10 crore and threatening him with dire consequences in the name of Khalistani elements.”During questioning, Gurpinder and Shamsher disclosed that they had transmitted the threatening voice note at the behest of Jaswant Singh. “Further investigation revealed that earlier extortion calls and threatening messages were allegedly coordinated through Manni, who was operating from Spain and was in touch with Jaswant,” the senior police officer said.
