Jaipur: The state govt is not planning to organise the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit this year, in line with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s earlier announcement that the event would be held once every two years.Instead, the state will celebrate Pravasi Rajasthan Divas (PRD) on Dec 10, with a renewed focus on engaging the global Rajasthani diaspora and attracting investments. On the sidelines of an event Thursday attended by senior officials from the ministry of external affairs and the department of domestic and overseas Rajasthan affairs, officials said the govt would use PRD as a platform to connect with the diaspora and encourage investment in the state.Officials indicated that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with members of the diaspora are likely to be signed during the event.Responding to a question on whether the govt would also reach out to non-diaspora investors, as it did ahead of the Rising Rajasthan summit, an official said MoU signing is a continuous process and investment proposals are being pursued throughout the year.As part of the preparations for PRD, the industries department plans to conduct outreach roadshows in Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Indore, Guwahati, Punjab, Haryana and Bhubaneswar to engage Pravasi Rajasthanis. The department will also organise sector-specific sessions on Dec 10 aimed at facilitating investment opportunities across key sectors.
