Aizawl: Mizoram sports minister Lalnghinglova Hmar on Sunday congratulated the women’s hockey team for their 2-0 win over New Zealand in the final of the Nations Cup in Auckland.Taking to his social media handle, Hmar said, “I am especially proud of Mizoram’s own Lalremsiami Hmar and Lalthantluangi, whose contributions have helped India achieve this historic success.” He said that Lalremsiami was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for her outstanding performance.“With the immense talent we possess in Mizoram and India’s prominent stature on the world stage, hockey remains one of the priority disciplines under our ‘Empowering Mizoram Sports’ initiative as we work towards the vision of Olympic 2036. Once again, congratulations to the entire team on bringing glory to the nation,” Hmar said.The win also secures qualification for India’s women’s team at the FIH Pro League, the highest international league competition in women’s hockey, the sports minister added.
