Jalpaiguri: Jalpaiguri is set to get a university, chief minister Suvendu Adhikari announced at a party meeting in Maynaguri on Monday. He added that a new MIC (minister in charge) will be inducted into his cabinet from Jalpaiguri shortly.A plan to upgrade North Bengal University’s (NBU) second campus near Jalpaiguri Govt Engineering College was long on the anvil. Opened in 2015 on 37 acres acquired from the college, only four departments have come up, leaving the rest of the land vacant. “I asked Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy to find land for the university,” Adhikari said.
