The makers of ‘Pritam And Pedro’ launched the trailer of the upcoming web series at a star-studded event in Mumbai. Present at the gathering were Rajkumar Hirani, Arshad Warsi, Vikrant Massey, Vir Hirani, Mona Singh, composer Shantanu Moitra, lyricist Swanand Kirkire, director Avinash Arun, JioStar executive Alok Jain and cyber security specialist Amit Dubey.Since the show revolves around cybercrime, Dubey gave attendees a startling demonstration by hacking a journalist’s phone live on stage, showcasing how easily fraudsters can gain access to personal information. Adding a musical touch to the evening, singer Shreya Ghoshal surprised guests with a performance of the song ‘Piya Piya Piya’.
Arshad’s anecdote about Rajkumar Hirani and Vir Hirani sparks laughter
According to Bollywood Hungama, while discussing the bond between Rajkumar Hirani and his son Vir, Arshad Warsi narrated a humorous incident that quickly became one of the evening’s highlights.“Raju and Vir share a beautiful father-son relationship. I’ll share an instance. Vir has a habit of standing in a drooping position. Even now, this is how he’s standing! One day, Raju came and told him, ‘Beta, seedhe khade raho. (Son, stand straight)’ He replied, ‘But dad, this is how I stand.’ Then, I came and I told him, ‘Vir, stand straight.’ He promptly said, ‘Yes, sir’ and stood upright!”The actor then delivered another punchline that had the room erupting in laughter. “Fathers never get any respect, even if your father happens to be Rajkumar Hirani!”
Arshad Warsi’s self-deprecating humour wins hearts
When the host asked Vir Hirani whether Arshad had ever intimidated him on set, Vir recalled how effortlessly the veteran actor would nail scenes. “The only time I would feel bullied was when he would get it right in one take while I would need 10 takes to do the same,” Vir admitted.Arshad responded with yet another witty remark. “He would perform perfectly well, but many actors often think, ‘Maybe I can do this even better.’ I’ve reached a stage in my career where I know I probably can’t do it any better than that!”
An unexpected Sanjay Dutt revelation
The biggest surprise of the event came when Arshad was asked whether he missed working with Sanjay Dutt during the making of the series. The duo previously shared screen space in Rajkumar Hirani’s iconic films ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ and ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’. Without hesitation, Arshad replied, “No, we didn’t, because he’s in the show.”The revelation appeared to catch everyone off guard, including Vir Hirani, who immediately signalled that the information was not meant to be disclosed. Realising he may have revealed too much, Arshad jokingly said, “Someone should tell me beforehand what I’m allowed to say and what I’m not!”
Arshad Warsi’s final joke targets the media
Attempting to contain the surprise announcement, the host requested journalists present at the event to omit that portion from their coverage. Arshad, however, had the perfect response ready. “These are journalists. They don’t cut things out, they add more to them!”The quick-witted exchange once again brought the house down and ensured Arshad remained the undisputed star of the launch event. ‘Pritam And Pedro’ is set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 3.
