New Delhi: Delhi Police Sunday clarified that no permission was either sought or given to the Cockroach Janta Party protesters regarding their proposed March to the Parliament Monday.A multi-layer security cordon, including paramilitary and outside reserve forces, has been put in place in the wake of the commencement of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament from July 20.DCP New Delhi district Sachin Sharma posted on X, saying prohibitory orders under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) — which was Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) — were in place in New Delhi district.Under these orders, protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons are prohibited throughout the district. The only exception is the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar, where demonstrations are permitted only after obtaining prior permission from the authorities.Police said the restrictions have been imposed to ensure public safety, maintain security for protected persons and safeguard vital govt installations during the Parliament session.“Any person violating these prohibitory orders shall be liable for prosecution under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable provisions of law,” the advisory stated.Officers also appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by refraining from participating in any unauthorised march or assembly.The advisory was issued following reports that CJP supporters were planning a march to Parliament Monday.
