New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at a factory near a bank in south Delhi’s Chandan Hola, Chhattarpur, in the early hours of Sunday, engulfing exhibition items spread across nearly two acres and triggering a major firefighting operation that lasted for more than four hours.According to Delhi Fire Services, the first distress call was received at 2.11am, following which two water tenders and two water bowsers were rushed to the spot. As the blaze intensified, additional emergency calls were received and the response was progressively upgraded.In all, 24 fire tenders, along with a bulk foam tender and a multipurpose vehicle, were deployed to battle the flames.Fire officials said the blaze was confined to exhibition items stored inside a tin-shed area spread over two acres. By around 5am, firefighters had managed to surround the fire, preventing it from spreading further.The fire was brought under control by 6.30am. During the firefighting operation, the tin shed collapsed, and cooling operations continued even after the flames were extinguished.No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
