NEW DELHI: An auto driver was injured while three passengers escaped unhurt after a car allegedly rammed into an auto-rickshaw from behind in East Delhi’s Shakarpur on Saturday.The autorickshaw was being driven by Sanjay (25). At the time of the accident, he was carrying three passengers labourers from Mallepur, Peepal Pura in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh who were on their way to Anand Vihar Railway Station to board a train to their hometown.According to police, a car hit the auto from behind, causing severe damage to both vehicles. The impact left the TSR badly mangled. The driver of the car, along with other occupants, allegedly fled the scene immediately after the accident. Police said the vehicle is registered in the name of Kajal, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Delhi.Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and took both damaged vehicles into custody. A crime team also inspected the scene as part of the investigation.While the passengers escaped without injuries, the auto driver sustained minor injuries in the collision and was provided medical assistance.A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver and other occupants of the car.
