Riots Conspiracy Case: Court Permits Shadab Ahmad to Pursue LLB Admission

New Delhi: A Delhi court Tuesday allowed Shadab Ahmad, a Delhi riots larger conspiracy case accused, to complete the admission process for an LLB course at Krishna Law College in Ghaziabad.Ahmad, represented by advocate Rahul Dev, submitted that he wished to pursue the law course but was unable to do so because of the conditions imposed by Supreme Court while granting him bail on Jan 5. The bail order prohibited him from leaving the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi without prior court permission. He also informed the court that Delhi High Court had granted him a similar permission in another case and urged the sessions court to adopt the same approach.Allowing the plea, additional sessions judge Sameer Bajpai said: “The applicant is allowed to leave NCT of Delhi between 10 am to 7 pm from Aug 4-7 for the purpose of… securing admission.”The judge directed that Ahmad should report to the police station at 8.30 am, instead of 10.30 am on certain days and that “he shall be released by the in-charge of the police station within half an hour after completing necessary formalities.”Ahmad completed his Bachelor of Computer Applications from a university in Ghaziabad before joining as a supervisor at a factory in Delhi’s Jagatpur area.He is an accused in FIR 59/20, registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and is alleged to be a conspirator in the 2020 riots. In Jan, while rejecting the bail pleas of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, a Supreme Court bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and NV Anjaria granted bail to Fatima, Haider, Rehman, Khan and Ahmad, subject to stringent conditions.
