Who is Kapil Dinkar? All about the UP Police constable who blew the panel away and won Rs 1.5 lakh on 'India's Got Latent 2'
Kapil Dinkar, a UP Police constable since 2021, wowed panelists on India’s Got Latent Season 2 with humour, singing, and confidence, winning Rs 1 lakh plus a Rs 50,000 bonus. Also an author of three books, he dreams of collaborating with Yo Yo Honey Singh and once auditioned for Akshay Kumar’s Wheel Of Fortune.

Ever since episode two dropped on YouTube and Netflix, Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ Season 2 has been generating buzz. One contestant who stood out was Kapil Dinkar, a constable with the Uttar Pradesh Police, who stepped onto the stage armed not only with his uniform but also with sharp humor, musical flair, and unshakeable confidence.

Kapil Dinkar’s witty entry left Samay amused

The moment Kapil stepped onto the stage, he quipped, “Phir se shuru kar diya ye? Pichli baar chain nahi pada band karwa ke?” (You’ve started this up again? Didn’t you get enough peace of mind after getting it shut down last time?)His comment immediately cracked Samay up. Curious, the comedian asked whether he was simply dressed as a cop for the performance or actually part of the force. Kapil confirmed he was, in fact, a serving UP Police constable and had joined the show to sing a song.

Kapil Dinkar joined the force in 2021

Kapil joined the Uttar Pradesh Police as a constable in 2021. Reflecting on his journey, he revealed that his mother had always dreamed of him becoming a police officer, and he felt a deep sense of pride in making that dream come true.

Music remains Kapil Dinkar’s true passion

Though policing is his profession, music has remained his true passion. “Main department ka iklauta banda hoon jisko music karne ki permission hai,” Kapil said during his appearance, leaving the panel visibly impressed.

Kapil Dinkar is also a published author

Beyond his police work and musical passion, Kapil is also a published author. He shared on the show that he has three books to his name and is currently working on eight more. During the conversation with Samay and the panel, he also touched upon the Mission Shakti Kendra initiative, praising it as an effective programme. When Samay asked if he ever felt afraid of crime in Uttar Pradesh, Kapil responded with confidence, “Nahi, humein bahut achhi freedom di hui hai aur us par hum log bahut achha kaam bhi kar rahe hain.” (No, we have been given a lot of freedom, and we are doing very good work with it.)

Kapil Dinkar’s playful banter with the panel

Kapil’s segment was packed with light-hearted humour and playful banter. Haarsh Limbachiyaa joked, “Agar hum jurm karein to aap hi aana pakadne.” Kapil shot back instantly, “Aap jurm karoge hi kyun?” He also took a playful jab at BeerBiceps aka Ranveer Allahbadia, singing a line about how the controversy from Season 1 meant he was nowhere to be seen in Season 2. Wrapping up the segment, Samay remarked, “Thank you so much ki Indian Police se hamare show mein koi aaya. Isse hamare show ki credibility aur badh gayi.” (Thank you so much that someone from the Indian Police came to our show. This has increased our show’s credibility even more.)

Kapil Dinkar’s perfect score and Rs 1 lakh prize

Samay, along with fellow panelists Kiku Sharda, Chandan Prabhakar, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, and Balraj Singh Ghai, were clearly won over by Kapil’s performance and rated him a perfect 10/10. In a funny coincidence, Kapil gave himself the same score. Adding to the laughs, when Samay tried to set off the party popper, it didn’t go off. He joked, “Police ke saamne explosion nahi kar sakte.” Kapil went on to win Rs 1 lakh for his act, along with an extra Rs 50,000 for correctly answering a bonus question.

Kapil Dinkar’s ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ audition and musical inspirations

In a podcast appearance, Kapil also opened up about once being invited to audition for Akshay Kumar’s game show Wheel Of Fortune. Though thrilled at being approached by Akshay’s team, he didn’t make the final cut. Alongside his duties as a police constable, Kapil takes his music seriously, often expressing a desire to collaborate with Yo Yo Honey Singh. He has also paid tribute to the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala through several musical performances shared on social media.
