Pankaj was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital in an e-rickshaw instead of an ambulance, Asked about the absence of an ambulance, a senior railway official said that while an ambulance is always available on call and can be arranged for within 10–15 minutes, in this case it was necessary to take the victim to the hospital immediately, so they left without waiting.A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows the alleged assault and the commotion that followed after Pankaj was left lying on the platform. The footage also shows railway personnel moving him away from the train and the edge of the platform after the scuffle ended.Police said the altercation broke out while passengers were attempting to board the Yoga Express at Shahdara station. According to investigators, Pankaj was standing near the door when an argument escalated into an assault. His family, however, claimed he was attacked while trying to get off the train at Shahdara to board a connecting train to his hometown. The family on Sunday told TOI that “no one came forward to save him (Pankaj).”Cousin Abhijeet Dhama said, “When my brother was lying unconscious on the platform, some of his co-workers, returning home after work, recognised him. We rushed to Delhi.”Abhijeet said Pankaj had worked as a night-shift Delhi Metro security guard for several years. “He would leave for duty in the evening and usually return home by train between 7 am and 8 am the next morning. He had spoken to our family over the phone after reaching the metro station for his night shift.”Govt Railway Police (GRP) has launched an investigation.SHO GRP (Muzaffarnagar), Kuldeep Sharma, said: “A team from GRP Delhi arrived at Muzaffarnagar and took custody of the accused for questioning and legal action.
