60-year-old woman killed by son for refusing to give money for liquor

New Delhi: A 60-year-old partially handicapped woman was beaten to death allegedly by her son after she refused to give him money to purchase liquor in south Delhi’s Maidan Garhi on Wednesday. The accused son has been arrested, police said.The deceased woman has been identified as Chinta Devi, a resident of UP Colony in the Kharak Gaon village area. The accused, Amod, is her younger son.Chinta Devi was a housewife who lived with her two sons, elder daughter-in-law and a three-year-old granddaughter. Amod’s wife and child live in Samastipur Vihar.The elderly woman had reportedly turned partially handicapped after an accident in 2013. Her husband is no more. Her elder son works in painting homes, while the accused is a tile contractor.A PCR call was received about the murder at the Maidan Garhi police station. Cops rushed to the spot to find that Chinta Devi was lying injured inside her house. She was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, where attending doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.A police officer said, “Frequent arguments and assault incidents were reported from the household. We are probing if the accused was under the influence at the time of the incident.”A case was registered and Amod was traced and arrested.
