Patna: The Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC) detected 17 candidates allegedly involved in examination malpractice during the written test held on Sunday at 544 centres across Bihar. Of them, 12 were arrested and 11 FIRs were registered in nine districts.Darbhanga recorded the highest number of arrests with six candidates taken into custody. Similar cases surfaced in Patna, Kaimur (Bhabua), Muzaffarpur, West Champaran, Munger, Khagaria, Katihar and Nawada.The Board attributed the detection of the malpractice attempts to stringent security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, frisking, videography and real-time monitoring through a central command and control centre in Patna.The examination, conducted in a single shift, was held for recruitment to 993 constable driver posts in Bihar Police Telecommunication. Admit cards had been issued to 2,82,823 candidates.According to the CSBC, the recruitment test was conducted under a multi-layered security framework comprising CCTV surveillance, jammers, randomisation of examination centres, candidates and officials, biometric attendance, photography and videography. Live monitoring from the command and control centre enabled officials to maintain round-the-clock surveillance of all examination centres across the state.The Board also acknowledged the support of district administrations, police officials and examination authorities in ensuring the smooth and transparent conduct of the recruitment process.Despite the elaborate security measures, a candidate was caught allegedly cheating with a Bluetooth device at the Vipin High School examination centre in Bettiah. He was intercepted about five minutes before the examination concluded. The candidate, a resident of Nawada district, was taken into police custody.
