<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi:<\/span> Delhi govt has approved a comprehensive redevelopment plan for the 137-acre Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) campus in central Delhi, aiming to transform it into a future-ready, integrated healthcare and education hub.Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday cleared a detailed study for the redevelopment of the sprawling campus, which includes Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, Guru Nanak Eye Centre and Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS).\u201cThe campus, spread across 137 acres, is not limited to Maulana Azad Medical College alone. It encompasses several key healthcare institutions that function as an interconnected healthcare and academic ecosystem. The need for a planned, integrated and long-term redevelopment has been felt for a long time,\u201d the CM said.Located in central Delhi, the MAMC campus and its associated hospitals form one of the most heavily used govt healthcare clusters in the capital. They handle a massive daily patient load, drawing people not only from across Delhi but also from the neighbouring states. The facilities cater to everything from routine treatment to complex tertiary care, making them a backbone of the city\u2019s public health system.Delhi govt has approved a consultancy assignment to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the campus and prepare a long-term redevelopment strategy.The project will be executed in three phases. The first phase will involve preparation of a detailed master plan for the entire campus, with a 30-year vision, ensuring compliance with local body regulations, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) norms and other statutory provisions.In the second phase, a structural audit and technical evaluation of existing buildings will be undertaken. Based on the findings, modern designs, layouts and redevelopment proposals for new infrastructure will be prepared. The third phase will focus on finalising tender documents and providing technical support during the tendering process to ensure timely execution.An official in the chief minister\u2019s office said the project will include planning and design of hospital and academic buildings, multi-storey residential complexes, hostels, nursing facilities, a fire station, sanitation systems, internal roads and improved connectivity. It will also provide for advanced security arrangements, cafeterias, parking areas and multi-level parking facilities. The consultant will prepare digital ground surveys, detailed engineering drawings, technical documents and a detailed project report (DPR).The cost of the project and the timeline will be decided when the govt moves ahead with the project on the basis of the study report, said the official.\u201cThe objective is to develop it into a modern, well-structured and future-ready integrated healthcare and education hub,\u201d the CM said, adding that the redevelopment would focus on improving patient facilities, enhancing efficiency in healthcare delivery and creating a world-class environment for medical education.<\/div>\n
