No injuries were reported, and the vessels were not damaged in the firing, sources said.According to Reuters, vessels attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday received radio messages from Iran\u2019s navy telling them they were not allowed to pass, while two ships reported being hit by gunfire. Several commercial vessels attempted to transit the strait after a notice to mariners a day earlier said passage was allowed but would be restricted to lanes Iran deemed safe, the report added.Meanwhile, India raised concerns over the safety of merchant shipping and sailors after reports of firing on commercial vessels. The Ministry of External Affairs said Iran had previously helped ensure safe passage for several India-bound ships.Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri urged the Iranian ambassador to convey New Delhi\u2019s concerns to authorities in Tehran and to restore, at the earliest, the process of facilitating safe passage for Indian ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
