<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNEW DELHI: A member of the Neeraj Bawana-Naveen Bali gang, allegedly involved in extorting businessmen and property dealers in outer north Delhi, was arrested following an exchange of fire with police late on Monday night.According to police, acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the Special Staff and Alipur police station laid a trap around 10 pm on the GTK Road-Hiranki Pushta Road stretch to apprehend Savinder alias Baba, 36, a resident of Sannoth village in Narela.Police said Savinder had allegedly been extorting businessmen and property dealers in the Alipur and Narela areas. Investigators also suspected that he was planning another attack on a victim on the night of the operation.When the police team intercepted him and asked him to surrender, the accused allegedly opened fire. During the exchange, the police retaliated, injuring him in the left leg before overpowering him. He was taken to Raja Harishchandra Hospital and later shifted to LNJP Hospital, where he is stated to be stable and conscious.Police said they recovered a pistol, three live 7.65 mm cartridges, three empty 7.65 mm cartridge cases, and two empty 9 mm cartridge cases from his possession.According to police, Savinder has six criminal cases registered against him, including those related to murder, attempt to murder, assault, and offences under the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
