In a democratic process, the verdict of the people is paramount! We will seriously analyse why we did not secure the votes. The constituency is dominated by urban middle-class families, traders, and upper caste communities, otherwise viewed as ideologically aligned with the party.Political analysts attribute the verdict to several factors, including the BJP changing its candidate midway, local civic issues, and the RJD leaders\u2019 indifference as their leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav joined the campaign for the last two days only, dealing a blow to the party candidate, Rekha Kumari. who finished a distant third in the three-way fight.Muslim voters saw potential in Prashant as a candidate who can beat BJP, while the Congress has already accused Tejashwi of being non-serious about alliance partners.Now, the fence-sitters could move closer towards Jan Suraaj as Prashant, who has four years to build an organisation and emerge as an alternative for people unhappy with mainstream political parties.People believe the Gen-G protests in Patna and Delhi and the alleged police high-handedness during and after the students\u2019 protest went against the BJP, which is struggling to mend ways with the young generation.Women’s response and that of silent voters to Prashant\u2019s appeal not to be taken for granted proved crucial. Prashant\u2019s positive politics on issues like migration, education and health attracted the urban voters more than the NDA\u2019s talk of development in the area.Political analyst Sanjay Kumar said a combination of factors worked.\u201cThe larger message is that when political parties fail to take an election seriously and assume that voters will support whichever candidate they nominate, they risk being proven wrong. This time, the people of Bankipur sent a clear message that democracy cannot be taken for granted,\u201d he said.Jan Suraaj Party president Manoj Bharti, who said a huge number of silent voters in all pockets and across caste and creed voted for Prashant, also believes that his personality overshadowed the BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha and RJD\u2019s Rekha Gupta. The unprecedented change of candidate Abhisekh Kumar Sinha \u2018Bunty\u2019 by the BJP even after he filed his nomination papers, sent a wrong message among the local party workers.The seat was previously held by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, who vacated it after moving to the Rajya Sabha. The outcome also carries implications for Bihar\u2019s broader opposition landscape. For the BJP, the loss is likely to prompt internal assessment rather than an immediate strategic overhaul.Analysts caution against overinterpreting the result as a broader political realignment.
