<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nAhmedabad:<\/span> Students and teachers across Gujarat are grappling with uncertainty as the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) failed to announce the examination pattern, paper format and marking scheme for the newly introduced computer studies subject in Classes 9 and 11, nearly two months after the academic year began.The 2026\u201327 academic session commenced on June 8, but the Board is yet to issue official guidelines on how students will be assessed in the subject, despite introducing a revised syllabus this year as part of a long-awaited curriculum overhaul to reflect the growing role of technology.The Gujarat State School Textbook Board had uploaded the new textbooks online in March, giving the Board several months to prepare the assessment framework. However, no blueprint or evaluation guidelines have been released so far.Traditionally, GSHSEB publishes a blueprint at the beginning of the academic year to help schools prepare internal assessments and semester examinations. With first-term examinations expected in Sep-Oct, schools are now being forced to frame question papers on their own, raising concerns over inconsistent evaluation standards across the state.Teachers say the absence of clarity on chapter-wise weightage, question formats and the split between theory and practical marks has made it difficult to plan lessons and prepare students.\u201cIntroducing a new syllabus is a positive step, but timely communication of the assessment pattern is equally important,\u201d said a computer studies expert. \u201cSince the subject is practical-oriented, teachers need clarity on the evaluation structure to ensure effective classroom teaching and proper student preparation.”Educationists said a uniform assessment framework is essential to avoid disparities in examinations conducted by different schools. They have urged the Board to issue an official circular without further delay so that teachers and students have adequate time to prepare before the first round of examinations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
