<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nIndia enjoyed its most successful day of the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday, collecting a remarkable 16 medals to climb to fourth in the overall standings with 39 medals (13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze). The campaign was powered by a record-breaking boxing performance, where Indian pugilists captured seven gold and three silver medals, while podium finishes also came in para athletics, athletics and judo. Beyond the medals, Indian athletes remained active across cycling, bowls and track and field, with several campaigns ending while others produced encouraging performances despite narrowly missing the podium. <\/p>\n Indian boxing produced one of the country’s finest Commonwealth Games performances, winning 10 medals from 10 finals after every semifinalist converted their guaranteed podium finish into either gold or silver. Sakshi Chaudhary opened the golden run by defeating England’s Ruby White to claim the women’s 51kg title. Preeti Pawar followed with victory over Canada’s Scarlett Savannah Delgado in the women’s 54kg final, while Jaismine Lamboria overcame Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh to secure gold in the women’s 57kg category. There were also three silver medals. Lovlina Borgohain finished runner-up after losing the women’s 75kg final to Australia’s Emma Sue Greentree. In the men’s F57 shot put, Soman Rana produced a season-best throw of 13.40m to win gold, finishing 0.12m ahead of compatriot Shubham Juyal, whose season-best 13.28m earned silver and completed an Indian one-two. Cameroon’s Cedric Azamdzi finished third with 12.57m. The men’s triple jump also produced a double podium. Praveen Chithravel claimed silver with a best leap of 16.58m, finishing behind Jamaica’s Jordan Scott, who won gold with 16.72m. Selva Prabhu Thirumaran secured bronze with 16.52m to ensure India occupied two places on the podium. Gulveer Singh added another athletics medal by taking bronze in the men’s 5,000m in 13:24.95. Australia’s Ky Robinson claimed gold, Kenya’s Michael Kiplangat Kipsang finished second, while Gulveer held off Kenya’s Cornelius Kemboi by just 0.04 seconds to secure third place. Judo also contributed through Unnati Sharma, who defeated South Africa’s Skye Knoester by ippon in just one minute and seven seconds to win bronze in the women’s -63kg category. <\/p>\n India also had a busy day in events that did not produce medals. Harsh Tokas kept his medal hopes alive in the men’s -81kg judo by defeating Samoa’s Peniamina Percival in the repechage before falling to Australia’s Keishin Ochi in the bronze-medal contest. Karanjit Singh Maan saw his men’s -90kg campaign end after losing to Scotland’s Scott Cusack in the repechage, while Inunganbi Takhellambam exited the women’s -70kg competition after defeat to England’s Jemima Yeats-Brown in the repechage. In the women’s 10,000m race walk, Priyanka Goswami narrowly missed a podium finish in fourth place, while Ravina Gayakwad was disqualified. India’s pole vault challenge also concluded without a medal as Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar finished outside the podium positions in the men’s final. Para athlete Ramesh Shanmugam finished seventh in the men’s T54 1500m final. <\/p>\n India reached the mixed 4x400m relay final after the quartet of Vishal T.K., Rajesh Ramesh, Rashdeep Kaur and Neeru Pathak safely negotiated the heats. For the final, Ansa Babu replaced Rajesh Ramesh and Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan came in for Neeru Pathak, joining Vishal T.K. and Rashdeep Kaur. The revised quartet finished sixth in 3:20.32, with Jamaica taking gold in 3:10.97 ahead of England (3:11.58) and Nigeria (3:12.85). Track cycling brought a series of early exits. David Beckham Elkatohchoongo, Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam and Rojit Singh were all eliminated during the men’s sprint qualification, while Dinesh Kumar and Harshveer Singh Sekhon did not finish the men’s 10km scratch race qualifying event. India’s bowls campaign also came to an end. The men’s pairs team of Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar lost to England in sectional play and were knocked out of medal contention, while Nayanmoni Saikia suffered defeat to South Africa’s Bridget Herselman in the women’s singles sectional match.With the Games concluding on Sunday, India will have one final opportunity to add to its tally of 39 medals.
